Dr. Iqbal Shedai's speech in Cairo, Egypt
Ladies and Gentlemen-Assalam-o-aleikum wa Rahmatullah,
On behalf of the Pakistanis here in Egypt and elsewhere in the world, I thank you and through you, your respected kings, presidents, and nations for joining us in our rejoicing and happiness for the historic achievement of our freedom and independence.
I assure you, brethren, that we shall never forget your kindness and sympathy shown to us in these last 8 days.
Through press and platform. I pray to Allah Karim that those of our brethren who are still suffering under the foreign yoke should see the most happy days.
As we the Pakistanis are seeing and enjoying. They must rest assured that we are and shall remain with them spiritually in their adversity and in their happiness as well.
Gentlemen, much has been said and written about my newly-born country and its great and illustrious leader-Quad-i-Azam Mohammed Ali Jinnah I, there Fore need not repeat the same things at this moment as we have very limited time at our disposal and secondly the weather, too, does not permit us to remain closed in this hall. I would simply tell you in a few words that our freedom which we have snatched from our foes is the work of only one person.
Our dearest quad-i-Azam Mohammed Ali Jinnah. Before this great son of Islam took the reins of our leadership, we did not know what we were struggling for.
Our old leaders had no clear-out program to put before us. We were wandering behind them in an unlimited wilderness without any aim or object. This man was sent by God Almighty to lead us to victory, light, and freedom. In six years only he got back that most precious and dearest gem of liberty which had been snatched from us by the British a century and a half ago.
Gentlemen this brave and courageous man was alone in the midst of a terrible whirlwind of taunts from both our friends and foes. Some called him a lackey of the British Imperialists and others called him the enemy of India and of the whole East. But that great Son of Islam stood like a rock amidst this stormy ocean of human taunts.
His only reply to his friends and foes was,
“I shall get for my people a free and independent PAKISTAN”.
He succeeded in his aims and today we are here to congratulate him and his happy nation,
Free and independent Pakistan is a great boon for the East in general and for the Muslim peoples in particular. We are not imperialists but we shall fight against any eventual enemy to the last man for the freedom and independence of our fatherland which our QUAD-i-AZAM has entrusted us.
At the same time, we shall help those of our brothers who are suffering under foreign yoke and are struggling for their freedom.
Our first warning is to the British imperialists who are playing with fire in the Nile Valley. They must not think that we Pakistanis will be content only with our own freedom and shall close our eyes to the sufferings of our Egyptian brethren.
Their joy is our own joy and their sorrow is our sorrow. Those days are gone when we were senseless of our brethren’s miseries and sorrows under the effect of the Hashish of slavery. It is for the British Imperialists to pack up their bags and baggage and quit the Nile Valley for good.
Our second warning is to the Dutch tyrants who are slaughtering our sisters, mothers, daughters, and brothers in Indonesia because they, the Indonesians, demand their freedom. Let the Dutch people know that if they and their govt. will persist in their danned and nasty policy their days are numbered.
We Pakistanis assure ours In Indonesian brethren that we shall certainly come to their help in spite of our present and momentary feebleness.
Our third warning is to the French Imperialists who have been perpetrating every sort of cruelty on our brethren in Morocco, Algeria, and Tunis since a long time. The days of Colonialism and exploitation are gone forever. They must now finish To civilize our brethren who are tired of the French civilization.
Charity begins at home. Let them civilize the people of Montmartre quarters of Paris and other dens of debauchery and vice in France.
Our fourth warning is to the Zionist Imperialists of Wall Street. It would be co-religionists. be better for them and their co-religionists to give up their evil designs in Palästine and other àrab countries.
They must not think that they would dominate and annihilate the Palestinian Arabs with American and British stun guns and other deadly weapons. These sons of Shylock must know that by persisting in their imperialist designs they are cutting their own feet.
All Jews living in Muslim countries and in other eastern countries must also warn these Zionists that they are saving thorns in their way. We Pakistanis cannot and shall not tolerate that zionists should install in Palestine.
We shall send thousands of volunteers if need be to help our brethren in Palestine to fight the Zionist menace.
Now gentlemen, a few words more, and then I shall not trouble you any longer. You must have known through the press that a small committee of responsible Egyptian gentlemen has been freed to strengthen cultural, economic, and commercial relations between Egypt and Pakistan. This committee will soon publish its program of action. I hope you all will take a keen interest in this newly made association in Cairo. In my country, too, its opposite number will be made soon when I reach there.
Now once more, Ladies and Gentlemen, I thank you all on behalf of my fellow countrymen for your kind and sympathetic interest you have taken and are taking in my country.
LONG LIVE VADI EL NIL
LONG LIVE PAKISTAN.
Great publicity was given by the Egyptian press to my actuates about Pakistan. Everyone came to know that a new Muslim country had come into existence.
The Egyptian and foreign news agencies also flashed news of my propaganda tour.
A certain gentleman of Cairo was the correspondent of the Pakistan Times of Lahore who wrote to the paper about my activities in Egypt.
Probably his name was Al Arousi. He was an official of the Egyptian Ministry of Interior but he wrote articles in the name of his wife. During my sojourn in Cairo, he used to meet me every now and then.
Fruit chat researchers tried their best to keep the placement exactly in the original alphabet and tone to avoid any kind of unflattering change. Feel The sensation of a historic moment as it was.
